Directing, design, and products that ship

The same person writes the spec, directs the film, draws the cover and ships the software. That is unusual, and it is the reason a campaign here does not need three vendors to agree with each other before anything gets made.

01Directing

Written, shot, cut, released

Two strands: original music video, and campaign film made on real jobs across seventeen Oregon cities. Both go from concept to published without a hand-off — written, shot, cut and released by the same person who wrote the brief.

02Graphic design

Media development

Four pieces, four different disciplines — an advertisement that ran, character art carrying a record, a campaign poster, and concept art for a product still on the drawing board. Each was made for something real, and one of them says plainly that the thing it depicts does not exist yet.

On Top Home Services — campaign ad

Commercial advertising

On Top Home Services — campaign ad

Before-and-after advertising built to be read in a feed and on a doorhanger: one claim, one proof, one offer, one number to call.

Oaky — character key art

Illustration & character design

Oaky — character key art

The character carrying the Kickin’ Devils record. Built as key art, then reused across the album, the video and the storefront rather than redrawn for each.

The Collected Volume — campaign poster

Typographic campaign design

The Collected Volume — campaign poster

One image holding three separate works — a book, a philosophy and a thesis — without the composition collapsing into a list.

FirePro — product concept render

Product concept art

FirePro — product concept render

Concept art for a proposed wildfire response system, made to communicate an idea to people who fund things. Concept render only: the system plan is designed, not deployed, not funded, and no agency has engaged it.

03Product development

Specification through to production

Five products at three different stages. What they have in common is that the same person defined them, designed them and built them — which is why the method sold on this site is not a theory about how software should be made.

04Why it matters commercially

One person, no hand-off

A campaign normally passes through a strategist, a designer, a production company and a developer, and loses something at each boundary. Here it does not cross one.

On Top Home Services before the rebuild
Before — the brand as it was.
On Top Home Services after the rebuild
After — site, system, film and search structure, all from one place.

Next step

If it needs making as well as planning, that is the same conversation.
