AI Consulting for Oregon contractors

Spec-first reviews and honest answers about where AI and automation are worth the money in a contracting or exterior cleaning operation — and where they plainly are not.

01Sound familiar

The problem, before it has a name

Most people arrive describing symptoms rather than a project. These are the ones that lead here.

  • 01Leadership has been told to "do something with AI" and nobody has defined what
  • 02Three vendors have quoted three incompatible things
  • 03A pilot ran, impressed everyone, and changed no operational number
  • 04You need a defensible answer for a board or a council, not a demo
02Approach

How I think about it

The most common reason an AI initiative stalls is not technical. It is that nobody has written down what problem it is meant to solve in terms an operations person and a finance person would both recognise. A pilot then runs, impresses everyone in the room, and changes no operational number.

This work is spec-first. The reasoning is shown, the limits are stated, and the deliverable is a document you can hand to whoever controls the budget — a ranked register of opportunities, and a roadmap naming the specific first build rather than a category of builds.

That includes the answer where the honest recommendation is to do nothing yet. It has been the right call more than once, and a consultant who has never given it is not one worth hiring.

02bAfter

What your Monday looks like

Deliverables describe what I hand over. This is what changes for you. You can make any relevant change you want to, easily, yourself.

  • You know which two things are worth building and which nine to ignore.
  • There is a number and a written scope before anyone starts work.
  • Whoever approves the spend has read the same document you have.
  • You can turn a vendor down with a reason attached.

For exterior cleaning companies

This one is already built

Pressure washing, roofs, gutters, windows, lights — the operating system, the website and the search structure already run an exterior cleaning company, so for that trade this is installed rather than invented. Fixed price, fixed scope, delivered in the first quarter.

03Process

How the work runs

  1. 01

    Audit

Systems, workflows and the numbers that actually matter to you.

  2. 02

    Register

Every opportunity ranked by effort against impact, with the reasoning attached.

  3. 03

    Roadmap

90 days, naming the first build specifically enough to quote.

  4. 04

    Walkthrough

An hour with whoever approves the spend, answering their questions and not mine.

04Deliverables

What you receive

  • 01Systems and workflow audit across two working sessions
  • 02Opportunity register ranked by effort against impact
  • 0390-day roadmap naming the specific first build
  • 04Vendor and build-versus-buy assessment with the reasoning shown
  • 05A 60-minute walkthrough with whoever has to approve the spend
05Who this is for

Contractors first. Commercial and government too.

The build overlaps; the evidence each buyer needs to approve it does not.

Contractors & exterior cleaners

  • Quoting that does not wait on someone being at a laptop
  • Scheduling that offers the customer dates the crew is already driving past
  • One system holding the job, the documents and the money

Commercial

  • Integration across tools already under contract
  • Role-based access and a defensible audit trail
  • A rollout plan that survives a staffing change

Government

  • Documented decisions and traceable requirements
  • Procurement-legible scope, deliverables and acceptance criteria
  • Data residency and records-retention answered up front, in writing
07Questions

AI Consulting, answered

What is the difference between this and the AI Readiness Assessment?

The assessment IS the standard entry point for this service — fixed scope, ten business days, a named set of deliverables. Broader consulting engagements exist for organisations that already know what they are building and need architecture review or ongoing advisory instead.

Can you produce something a council or a board will accept?

That is the normal output. Documented requirements, traceable decisions, named acceptance criteria and a scope written so a procurement process can evaluate it. A demo persuades a room; a document survives the meeting afterwards.

Do you resell any vendor?

No. There is no referral arrangement with any platform, so a build-versus-buy recommendation carries no commission either way. Where a product genuinely beats a custom build, that is the recommendation.

How is this priced?

Plans for marketing, ads and business operating systems are built on best practices in the field, and they are priced against deliverables rather than by the hour. A short ad-spend campaign can be $500. A marketing and operating system install starts at $25,000, with financing available.
